Steve joined the firm in 1982 and is currently a Director of the firm and the Managing Partner of the San Jose office. In addition, he is the Chair of the Business Transactions practice group. He is AV® Peer Review Rated by Martindale-Hubbell.
Steve has substantial trial and appellate experience in the fields of real estate, business litigation, professional errors and omissions, insurance coverage, and bad faith. His experience in representing professionals is extensive and includes the representation of real estate agents and brokers, attorneys, real estate appraisers, home inspectors, title companies, mortgage brokers, foreclosure trustees, broker-dealers, financial planners, and insurance agents/brokers.
He handles a variety of construction and real estate matters including construction defect claims, trespass, nuisance, and quiet title actions. He has worked on a wide range of business cases involving real estate developers, manufacturing companies and high tech fabrication facilities. Steve also provides advice and handles a array of transactional matters in real estate and general business matters. He has prosecuted and defended substantial subrogation claims.
Steve has served for several years as an arbitrator and Discovery Commissioner for the Santa Clara Superior Court and has successfully mediated hundreds of cases over the past two decades. He is a member of the Santa Clara County Bar Association, the Northern California Association of Defense Counsel and the Defense Research Institute (DRI).
In his personal life, Steve enjoys traveling with his wife and family. He has a lifelong passion for old cars and historic races and attends as many auto-related events as his wife will tolerate. He also enjoys film noir, horrible "B" movies from the 40s and 50s and historical and mystery novels.
